Area Champ PHS Baseball Ranked #8 by ASWA
The Phillips High School baseball team is ranked in the top ten in the latest Alabama Sportswriters Association polls, released on Thursday, April 9, 2009. At the time of the poll, the Bears were 10-6.

Earlier in the week, the team defeated Mt. Hope 12-1 to put the Bears in a tie with Vina for the top seed in 1A Area 15 with 8-2 records, but Phillips claimed the area title after sweeping the Red Devils in the regular season.

The Bears will begin the playoffs Friday, April 17, by hosting Shoals Christian for a doubleheader with games scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it will start Saturday at noon.

The entire ASWA baseball poll is available at http://www.ahsaa.com/Sports/Baseball/History/ASWAPolls/BaseballPolls2009/ASWABaseballPoll4909/tabid/2625/Default.aspx

While subject to change due to weather, the PHS baseball and softball schedules are posted online at www.TownOfBearCreek.com. The calendar also has scores posted for most of the completed games on the calendar.
